Shri Girish Sharma from Indore (India) has selflessly spent past 50+ years of his life in the preservation and restoration of Ancient Indian culture. He has collected and amassed Ancient Indian coins, terracotta items, fossils, stamps and other artifacts.
He has a massive collection of more than 150,000 ancient coins from times prior to time of Alexander the Great (2000 years old) to Modern India era. He has been facilitated with 15Lifetime Achievement Awards across different cities in India for his immense contribution in the field of history and numismatics.
Mr. Sharma, has represented India at the British Museum (England), Oxford University (England), Hong Kong Coin Exhibition, at several US universities, Punjab University, Kalinga University. He himself has organized 7 large exhibitions across India the last 10 years with several chief guest such as former Speaker of the House, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan, etc.
He's the author of best-selling book – ‘City-State Coins of Ancient India’ which showcases several ancient coins of ancient city-states of India.
He's famous for discovering the only known coin of King Brahmand Satkarni and for the rarest coin of King Chandragupta II for which he was invited to British Museum (England) twice
A numismatic institute in India has issued and circulated commemorative Gold, Silver and Copper coins with his portrait on the completion of 50 years of his service in this field. He has also published a lot of articles and research papers.
His life’s goal and mission are to establish a state-of-the-art museum in Indore so that he can showcase the rich and diverse history of India and leave a legacy for the future Indian citizen. He is very active on the social media and has a very big following among the people interested in History and Numismatics.
He has launched a successful campaign to eradicate the practice of minting and circulating fake coins and has saved lot of innocent people from getting duped by such malpractices.
In his early days, he was part of Shri Jaiprakash Narayan’s movement and has spent 19 months in prison during the emergency (MISA) of 1975.
